Calasiao LGU Embraces AI in Governance at 23rd Development Policy Research Month
CALASIAO, PANGASINAN – The Municipality of Calasiao has demonstrated its commitment to modern and forward-thinking governance by actively participating in the 23rd Development Policy Research Month (DPRM), an annual event organized by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS). This year’s theme, “Reimagining Governance in the Age of AI,” provided a platform for local government officials to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in public service.
Held every September, the DPRM aims to foster a culture of evidence-based policymaking by highlighting the importance of policy research. Calasiao’s participation underscored the LGU’s proactive approach to adopting innovative solutions to improve service delivery and create more efficient government processes.
According to the PIDS, the theme “Reimagining Governance in the Age of AI” focuses on how emerging technologies can be leveraged to address societal challenges while promoting transparency and accountability. The discussions centered on key policy issues, including the responsible use of AI, building a robust digital infrastructure, and developing policies that ensure ethical and equitable AI deployment. For a progressive LGU like Calasiao, these insights are crucial for future-proofing its services and ensuring they remain relevant to the needs of its constituents.
The LGU’s particiaption at the DPRM reflects its dedication to sustainable development and a vision for a more technologically advanced Calasiao. By engaging with experts and policymakers, the municipality is now better equipped to consider how AI can be integrated into its operations—from enhancing public services to optimizing resource allocation—all while maintaining the core principles of good governance. This participation is a significant step toward making Calasiao a smart and responsive city ready for the digital age.
